SESSIONE 1

11:20 – 12:30 Building quizzes and other activities around YouTube Videos
Secondaria di 1° grado, Secondaria di 2° grado
Many teachers use YouTube videos in their lessons. In this workshop Russell will take you through simple ways of creating online quizzes and activities that test students understanding of the videos. These ideas can be used for formative testing, for collaboration and even for flipped classroom activities. What’s more, the quizzes are automatically marked by the system, so students activities and scores can be tracked. A useful session focusing on simple technologies that will allow you to make greater use of the fantastic content on YouTube.
Russell Stannard, a multi award-winning Educational Trainer, expert in technology.

11:20 – 12:30 The teacher as a storyteller
Secondaria di 1° grado, Secondaria di 2° grado
Stories define us. They are our memories and our dreams. They are our relationships and our experiences. We think them, invent them, and imagine them. Story and language are inseparable. In this practical talk, I would like to build a case for bringing story and storytelling to the front of the class. I will also share a few interactive storytelling activities that you can recreate with your own students.
Jamie Keddie, a teacher trainer and storyteller.

11:20 – 12:30 Let Me Tell You About this Book I’m Reading!
Secondaria di 1° grado, Secondaria di 2° grado
When we let students choose stories on topics they like and choose, and can read easily, then we have so many opportunities to get them speaking. They can discuss characters and narratives, but they can also respond with opinions and feelings about messages, ideas and conflict in narratives. They can use illustrations as prompts for mini-presentations or storytelling activities. They can compare them with film versions, re-enact scenes for drama and do many different role plays. And above all, they can interact together with the books in a meaningful way on their own terms, in a supportive and creative language learning environment. This workshop presents lots of ideas for using readers to get students speaking, and to see that reading is so much more than a series of texts for teaching language.
Andy Cowle, International Communication Trainer.

Maria Teresa Stancarone, M.I.U.R. Direzione Generale per gli Ordinamenti scolastici e la valutazione del sistema nazionale di Istruzione.

11:20 – 12:30 Cambridge Key 2020: A preview of the revised exam
Secondaria di 1° grado
Testing English at A2 level, the Key English test has always been an early but significant step on the Cambridge Assessment scale of exams. In 2020 there will be a new revised version to align it more closely to the other Cambridge exams, ensuring it retains its reliability while allowing candidates to perform to their full potential. This seminar will explain the changes and provide some ideas for classroom activities to focus on them.
Margaret Fowler, freelance teacher-trainer and language testing consultant.
